Machhapuchhre Model Trek
- 14 Days - 13 nights
The untouched, unconquered and unclimbed hold a charm that can be rarely transmuted into words. Ranked 13th by the Telegraph (UK) in a list of world's most beautiful mountains in April 2018 Mt. Machhapuchhre commonly known as Mt. Fishtail (6,997m) falls under the ever decreasing list of Himalayas yet to be scaled. While various factors can be attributed to this cause the most prominent reason steams from the local belief that the Himalaya itself is the abode of the mighty Hindu God Lord Shiva. Owing to the increasing motor access in the Annapurna Region the trail has been opened recently providing a fresh take on the beloved Annapurna Circuit. Virgin trail leading up to virgin destinations through vibrant hamlets, mesmerizing landscapes, lush green forests adorned with rhododendron trees and the mighty Himalayas, the Machhapuchhre Model Trek is every trekker's dream.
The 14-day journey begins with a pleasant drive alongside the banks of Trishuli heading to Pokhara and then on to the trailhead at Hemjakot. The journey begins as the trail gradually winds upwards to reach Lwang before moving onto Lalka for our second night on the go. The ravishing Gurung and Magar villages festoon the trails with charm and vigor to continue on the toiling trails. Through dense forests and lush green valleys, we continue our journey to Khumai and then onto Korchon which is also our final stop before Mardi Himal Base Camp. Enjoying the mesmerizing views of the majestic Annapurna Himalayan range including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6,441m), Annapurna South (7,219), and Mt. Machhapuchhre aka Fishtail (6,997m), we continue our journey towards Piper Kharka and then eventually onto Kharpani crossing Kabre on the way which signals the end of our trekking route. Returning to Kathmandu via the Tribhuvan Highway, we cap off a brilliant journey. Although viable throughout the year, the Machhapuchhre Model Trek is best done in autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May).
