Round Annapurna Trek

A trek around some of the highest and striking mountain ranges in the World, the Round Annapurna Trek is for enthusiasts in the lookout for firsthand experience of the Himalayan range. This trek crosses path with the Annapurna Circuitas you loop around the Annapurna region while voyaging through Manang, Jomsom, and Muktinath. With guaranteed views of the Annapurna Massif, we get a chance to witness Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8163m), Nilgiri (7061m), and Machhapuchhre (6997m). The trek, however, is not a walk in the park as you hike along infamous valleys and overcomeThorung La Pass (5416m). Although a challenge, this trek is an experience for the life as we explore gorgeous valleys and exquisite panorama and simultaneously enjoy the hospitality of Himalayan folks.
Our journey begins with a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley and UNESCO World Heritage sites within the valley. The actual trek starts as we drive west to Chame via Besisahar. As we enter the Annapurna Conservation Area, a week-long trek around the Annapurna region starts with a trip to Lower Pisang. We will stopover at beautiful locales namely Manang village and Thorung Phedi with stunning vistas of mountain range and valleys.Manang and Marsayangdi valleys will be our home for some time before we enter the Muktinath region. The sacred Muktinath temple rests at the base of Thorung La Pass in Muktinath valley. Visit the temple is followed by a trek to Jomsom. We will cross the historic village of Kagbeni on the way as we arrive in Jomsom. Wrapping up the trek of Annapurna region we fly back to Pokhara where we will visit attractions scattered across this tourist hotspot. Finally, we leave for Kathmandu where we shall bid our farewells as you continue your journey onwards.The best season to take on this trek is spring (February - May) and autumn (September-December).

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1300m. Meet and transfer to hotel – Overnight at Hotel
Welcome to Nepal. We will be present at the airport. Please look out for Daewoo Travels’ representative holding a playing card with your name. Upon meeting and exchange of greetings, you'll be transferred to the trip hotel. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu Preparation and sightseeing
A sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley is on the schedule for this day. Stepping out of your Hotel, you can walk to Swayambhunath Stupa, west of Kathmandu valley. Later we move to Pashupatinath temple. This is a famous Hindu shrine of Lord Shiva and is revered by many. Now heading to the Basantapur Durbar Square, appreciate this historical site home to Kumari Temple, Bhairav temple and Hanuman Dhoka. All of these sites are UNESCO listed World Heritage sites. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive to Besisahar 830m. By Jeep approx. 6hrs. – Overnight at Lodge.
Leaving the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu behind, we head out on a road trip to Besisahar. Heading west along the Prithvi Highway, we meander along a curvaceous road descending down the valley and driving further downstream along Trishuli River. We cross the towns of Malekhu and Mugling as we head for Besisahar. It is also the start point of the Annapurna circuit. Overnight stay at Besisahar.

Day 04: Drive to Chame 2670m. By Jeep Approx. 5-6hrs. – Overnight at Lodge – Not in Monsoon
Heading North today, we catch a jeep and ride to Chame. Not so much of a road, it’s a narrow track carved out in the cliff and ravines with the MarsayangdiRiver flowing terrifyingly below our track. Bumpiness of the track and occasional traffic makes our trip ever so slow as we pass by the settlements at Bhulbhule, Bahundanda, and Jagat as we arrive in Chame. Overnight stay at Chame.

Day 05: Trek to Lower Pisang 3200m. About 5-6 hrs. – Overnight at Lodge
We begin our trek with a moderate climb up to the split village of Pisang. Starting our trek, we head up along a trail. Then treading over a trail carved out in this rock face we enter a splendid valley. Finally,crossing onto the southern side of MarsayangdiRiver, we ascend onto the Manang Valley before arriving at Lower Pisang. Overnight stay atPisang.

Day 06: Trek to Manang 3734m. About 5-6 hrs. – Overnight at Lodge
With some of the best vistas on offer, we trek up to the Ghyaru village. Heading up the trail again, we traverse along the valley before descending onto Ngawal. We head further passing by gompas and juniper trees while descending onto Munchi village. Beyond this is the Braga monastery perched over a hillside. It is the oldest and largest gompa in this region. A short walk from Braga will lead us to Manang. Overnight stay at Manang.

Day 07: Acclimatization day. – Overnight at Lodge
Acclimatization day in Manang is no rest day as we keep active with a trip to the Gangapurna Lake. The lake is placed byMarsayangdiRiver and lies along the Khangsar road. Heading northwest of Manang we arrive at a knife edge with the beautiful turquoise lake on the other side. Enjoy the surrounding views of this area with that of Gangapurna icefall. Visit the Himalayan Rescue Association on our way back. Overnight stay at Manang.

Day 08: Trek to Yak Kharka 4018m. About 5-6hrs. – Overnight at Lodge
Back on the trails, we take the same Khangsar road as we walk towards Yak Kharka. The winding trails lead us to Tengi where the Khangsar River and JharsangRiver converge. We follow the JharsangRiverupstream while crossing Ghunsang. Great views of Annapurna II and Gangapurna are guaranteed throughout the day as you head to Yak Kharka. Overnight stay at Yak Kharka.

Day 09: Trek to Ledar 4200m. About 3-4 hrs. – Overnight at Lodge
This will be more of an acclimatization day as you’ll have crossed the 4000m mark. A week in the Himalayas, trekkingalong a fairly rough terrain could take a toll and cause Acute Mountain Sickness(AMS). Heading up the upper Yak Kharka, Ledar is just a short walk as you cross a suspension bridge onto the small village.Overnight stay at Ledar.

Day 10: Trek to Thorung Phedi 4525m. About 5-6hrs– Overnight at Lodge
While we gain some elevation on this day, most of the trail will be fairly level with occasional climbs as we set out for Thorung Phedi. First, we ascend before passing a cliff. With the trail meandering along the valley with sparse vegetation and barren grey land stretching all the way, we arrive at Thorung Phedi. Overnight stay at Thorung Phedi.

Day 11: Trek to Muktinath 3760m. Via Thorung La pass 5416m. About 8-9hrs – Overnight at Lodge
With a long day of the hike on the cards, we set out early for a steep climb to the Thorung La Pass. This pass is a Col between Thorung peak and Yakwakang (6482m). With snow and icy conditions almost guaranteed, we pass by an ancient moraine before arriving at the summit which is marked with prayer flags while gathering mementos and taking photos. Here you’ll get a glimpse of Annapurna range, Gangapurna (7454m) and Khatungkang (6484m). The trail descends along the downhill track running east from Manang to west-Muktinath. Muktinath temple is one of the holiest pilgrimages for Hindus and Buddhists. Overnight stay at Muktinath.

Day 12: Trek to Jomsom 2720m. About 5hrs– Overnight at Lodge.
We visit the Muktinath Temple early in the morning. A holy bath along the 108 taps around the temple is paramount before offering your prayers. We then stroll around the temple premises and Muktinath Bazaar before taking a trail southwest to Jomsom. Passing Kagbeni along the route we descend along stairs with low lying juniper trees forming a great backdrop amongst the towering hills, Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri (7061m), and the Kali GandakiRiver. Day 13: Fly Jomsom/Pokhara and Pokhara Sightseeing– Overnight at Hotel
We catch an early morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. A short 20-min flight will land you in Pokhara with ample time to visit popular tourist attractions. We start off with boating at the Phewa Lake and a visit to the Tal Barahi temple. A short trip to the David falls will be next followed by a visit to the Peace Pagoda which offers great views of Pokhara city heading back, we stroll along the lakeside before wrapping up our tour of the west. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 14: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu – Overnight at Hotel
Depending on your scheduled flight, you'll be transferred to the Airport in Pokhara where you'll catch your flight back to Kathmandu. While a road trip along the Prithvi Highway is not a step-down, flying will give you some leisure time in Kathmandu. Landing in Kathmandu, you'll be received and transferred to the trip hotel. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 15: Transfer to airport for departure
Last day of the trip, you can bid farewell to the team.A representative will transfer you to the airport approximately 3 hours before the scheduled departure to catch your flight back home.
