Tsum valley trek

  • 20 Days - 19 nights

The remote Himalayan region calls with Tsum Valley trek taking you away from bustling environs to one of the most secluded valleys in the Himalayas. Tsum Valley was opened for trekking only in 2008 and has a lot to be explored. You'll be trekking up along the Tsum valley with majestic views of Ganesh Himal, Shringi (7161m) and Boudha Himal range. Explore the breathtaking Manaslu region and Tibetan Buddhist influence throughout this trek as you meet locals with vivid culture and dialect, unlike other Himalayan tribes.

Like most trekking adventures in Nepal, we begin our trip with a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley and surrounding locales. With a chance to view the lifestyle of Kathmandu city, we transition to the remote lands of Gorkha district as we take a road to Arughat. Our trek starts with a hike to Soti Khola with a glimpse of the rural lifestyle as we cross Gurung and Magar villages. The next week ensures a lot of trekking along the valley and ravines, crossing suspension bridges with the Budhi Gandaki River flowing along the way. We enter the Manaslu Conservation Area at Jagat, stopping at Chumling and ChhokangParo. Chumling is a beautiful village in Tsum valley and depicts a distinct lifestyle with the Tibetan Buddhist inspiration and Himalayan architecture. The valley itself is covered with Mani walls, prayer flags, and chortens.  Finally, we set off to the Mu Gompa, a highlight of this trip, at 3700m. This will be the farthest and highest point in this trek. Mu Gompa is one of the oldest and largest monasteries in this region accompanied by Dhephu Doma Gompa. An excursion of the Gompas is accompanied by scintillating views of the Himalayan range. We head back through Burgi village as we retrace our trail to Arughat before heading back to Kathmandu. It is advised to take up this trek during the months of September to December (autumn) and March to May (spring).
